The Blues Custom 30 - Great Tone, Killer Looks And Superb Quality

Epiphone is pleased to announce the new Blues Custom 30 Guitar amplifier. Designed and engineered in the USA by Gibson, the amp features an ALL TUBE signal path and Tube Rectifier for the ultimate in pure tone. Check out these features:

Two distinct channels share the specially designed 3-Band EQ while the Overdrive Channel is equipped with an additional Mid control allowing the player to dial in that soulful sweet spot.

The 3-Band EQ is selectable between Independent and Interactive mode and the amp features a tube powered, transformer driven, spring Reverb.

The Blues Custom 30 offers the player both 30W Class AB (Pentode Mode) or 15Watts Class A (Triode Mode) at the flip of a switch.

A low noise fan was incorporated into the design to make sure the amp and tubes stay cool.

The Mars Volta bottled at Endfest

The Mars Volta walked off stage at the Endfest on Saturday (August 12), after being pelted, in perfect Reading fashion, with bottles of piss.

The band were playing the event - held at the White River Ampitheatre in Auburn (Washington State) and also featuring Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Gossip and Wolfmother - when the crowd turned against them. Presumably lengthy prog-rock workouts weren't the flavour of the day in Washington at the weekend.

Websites including Pitchfork and NME.com have reported on the incident, but as yet the band have not made any official comment. Reports state that Omar Rodriguez-Lopez smashed his guitar against his amplifier before departing the stage, with singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala asking the crowd to find the offending urine-hurlers.

GINI iTube

The good: The GINI iTube has excellent sound quality; adds warmth to compressed files; can be used with non-iPods. The bad: The GINI iTube is bulky and to some eyes, ugly; must add iConec (or equivalent) dock accessory for ultimate iPod integration. The bottom line: The vacuum tube-equipped GINI iTube speaker system may not not be beautiful nor is it a household name, but its sounds great. Reviewed by: James Kim Review date: 8/23/06 .

Gibson rocking as pricey American icon in guitar-loving Japan

A visitor to the Tokyo Guitar Show tries out a classic Gibson as staff help tune an amplifier at a local Gibson shop's booth in Tokyo on Saturday, June 24, 2006. Gibson makes a range of guitars solely for the Japanese market, including rocker Tak Matsumoto's signature Les Paul in special guitar shades like canary yellow and sunburst. Although Gibson is making marketing pushes elsewhere where demand is expected to grow, such as China, Japan is still Gibson's biggest market outside the United States and twice as large as its biggest European market, Great Britain.
