Kustom Celebrates 40th Anniversary With Introduction Of Limited ...

Kustom Amplification proudly celebrates its 40th Anniversary with the introduction of two series of Limited Edition guitar amplifiers. Sporting cool racing-style stripes, the 40th Anniversary Coupe® Series consists of three models while the new '66 DART™ takes Kustom's popular 10-watt guitar amp platform and gives it a full-on "Tuck n' Roll" visual treatment.

The 40th Anniversary Coupe Series amplifiers will be available in 1x12 (36-watt) and 2x12 (72-watt) combo amp formats as well as a 2x10, 36-watt version - a new configuration for the Coupe Series. In keeping with the Anniversary theme, only 40 of each model will be manufactured.

The padded Tuck n' Roll panels of each Anniversary Coupe are crafted using the original Uniroyal® Naugahide material but with a bold racing stripe added and a special "1966 - 2006" embroidered logo stitched directly onto the colored panel.

Norman Granz' Jazz In Montreux Presents: Joe Pass '75

It's not often you get a second chance in life, but the late guitarist Joe Pass was one of the fortunate few. After starting out playing in big bands like Charlie Barnet's in the 1940s, Pass' drug addiction and resulting jail sentence kept him off the scene for a decade until 1962, when he returned with a series of recordings for Pacific Jazz. For Django (Pacific Jazz, 1964) was especially momentous, and Pass began to receive greater recognition as an innovative mainstream guitarist whose clear roots in Charlie Christian brought a fresh perspective to music associated with the legendary Django Reinhardt.

But it wasn't until 1973, when Pass signed up with impresario Norman Granz' Pablo label and released Virtuoso—the first in a series of landmark solo guitar recordings—that he began to garner more widespread acclaim.

Bass Guitar Amplifiers Review

History: Bass player for 32 years. Playing locally though I've been in a couple of signed bands and toured the U.S. Pop alternative is what I'm listening to primarily now.

Purchase: Bought the BX4500H at Guitar Center for $250 on credit card. I was in search of the ever elusive, "Magic Tone"

What I Like About The Behringer BX4500H: Can't beat the price or the tone, now that Behringer solved the noise problems on these units. I tried a couple units on opposite ends of town and, NOISE. Got a much newer unit and, perfect!!

What I Do NOT Like About The Behringer BX4500H: Right now I can't think of a single thing I don't like about this unit. I've only had the unit for about 2 hours. I plan to use it tonight on a gig.

Quality: Totally compact and solid.

An 'Idol'-ized songwriter

MELANIE CONNER/ Morgan Grace Practicing at home Move over, Kelly Clarkson: Oregonians have their own "American Idol." And ours actually writes music, plays instruments and sings.

Late this summer, 29-year Portlander Morgan Grace won first place in the pop category of "American Idol Underground's" songwriting contest for "The Rules of Dating." The cash prize for her catchy pop tune? A cool $10,000. In her basement practice space, Grace recently spoke about the contest and performed the winning song.

How did you hear about the contest?

The contest sent a mailer to CD Baby (a Portland-based online music store) asking for independent artists, and I thought, "Oh, that might be cool," and then forgot all about it. A year later, I saw a link for it on MySpace and uploaded my song and forgot about it again.
